With summer soon approaching, Safari Sun is managing to stay ahead of fashion trends with their upcoming resort wear apparel line. The line, developed by Senior Account Executive, Robin Dvornick, will launch online on May 27th, and debut at the 2013 Las Vegas Souvenir & Resort Gift Show in September. The idea for the line was conceived after receiving praise on an earlier line for a Las Vegas casino. “We started off with Las Vegas; continued on with various casinos, and now we are expanding to resorts all over the United States,” said Dvornick. For Dvornick, Safari Sun Resort Wear is an opportunity to exercise a more hands-on approach, while interacting directly with clients.
Having shied away from the retail realm in the past, Dvornick says Safari Sun is now ready to take on the task at full force. “We’re moving in a new direction and opening up a new avenue for retail. It’s creative, innovative and fun.” With creativity being a major driving factor, Dvornick brought on Graphic Artist and Apparel Designer, Janet Gilbert, to create the artwork for the line. “We wanted to utilize the full capacity of our art team. We have so much talent here that we want to show,” Dvornick explained. “More often, clients will bring in their company logos as artwork, but with this resort line, our artists will have an opportunity to design more.”
The line itself will strive to meet the needs of the customers—the majority of them seeking apparel for women and youth—and designs are expected to target youth with use of bright colors and hand-drawn artwork. “Children are intrigued by designs that pop out at them, so we’re going for colorful looks such as heathered neons and mixing brights with neutrals,” Gilbert said. According to the artist, it is all about fitting in with today’s modern styles, while still maintaining originality. Drawing inspiration from cartoons and color trends, she describes the artwork as trendy and imaginative.
Safari Sun Resort Wear will make use of various screen printing and embroidery techniques, including sublimation, foil, discharge, applique, fashion soft ink, all-over and over-sized printing. The apparel itself will be available in just about any style—tanks, v-necks, hoodies, thermals, etc. While the line will be made up of stock designs for the most part, consumers will have the liberty of customizing most looks with name drops for specific locations. Rhinestones and glitter are just some of the additional embellishments client can opt to utilize.
